Fritz Willis (1907–1979) was an American artist best known for his erotic pinup illustrations.
In his pencil and oil sketches, attention is placed on the languidly of the reclined model, rather than the background.
This approach gave his work a casual yet, intimate feel.
Willis created much art for brands such as, Pepsi, Quality Papers, Max Factor, Purex, Sunkist, Crown Zellerbach, SpringMaid Sheets and others.
He also did story work for Esquire, Saturday Evening Post, Redbook, Collier's, and covers for The Ice Follies programs from 1952-1969.
Willis was also an author.
He wrote instruction books for Walter Foster, a publishing company who primarily publishes books on and about art.
He also published a number of children's books.
For 15-years, Willis produced work for the Artists's Sketchbook, Brown & Bigelow and other companies.
Fritz Willis is considered one of the last pin-up greats.
