Brooks became a famous actress and dancer of The Golden Age of Hollywood.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Louise Brooks is regarded today as an icon of the flapper culture, in part due to the bob hairstyle that she helped popularize during the prime of her career.
Brooks was known not only for her captivating beauty and talent but also for her tumultuous love life.
Brooks led a life that was as dramatic off-screen as it was on.
Louise Brooks was married three times during her life and had countless lovers.
It was said her striking personality often left a lasting impression on those she encountered.
Eddie Sutherland (1926-1928) – 1st MARRIAGE
Louise Brooks’s first marriage was to film director Eddie Sutherland. They tied the knot in 1926, but their relationship was rocky from the start. The couple divorced in 1928 due to various issues, including her burgeoning film career and his infidelity.
Brooks was Sutherland’s 2nd wife and he went on to have five in total. Brooks was just twenty years old when they wed.
Of Note – Before Sutherland began directing he acted. He’s known to be one of the original Keystone Cops.
Below are pictures of Louise Brooks with Eddie Sutherland.
George Marshall (1933-1935) – 2nd MARRIAGE
After her divorce from Sutherland, Brooks married George Marshall, a Chicago millionaire. This marriage, too, ended in divorce in 1935, reportedly due to her increasing independence and desire for a career in film. (Unfortunately, I could not find pictures of correct George Marshall)
Charles Guy (1936-1940) – 3rd MARRIAGE
Louise Brooks’s third marriage was to Charles Guy, a wealthy rancher. They were married from 1936 to 1940, but this union also faced difficulties, leading to their eventual divorce. (No pictures of Charles Guy were found)
Throughout her life, Louise Brooks had several reported lovers and flings with prominent men in the entertainment industry.
These men include;
Charlie Chaplin (Visit his website by clicking his name) Below is a picture of Charlie and Louise.
G.W. Pabst (her director in “Pandora’s Box” and “Diary of a Lost Girl“) A picture of Brooks and Pabst below…
William S. Paley (founder of CBS) – Paley and Brooks below…
These relationships were often marked by intensity and fleeting passion, but none led to lasting commitments.
Notably, Louise Brooks did not have any children during her lifetime.
Her focus remained primarily on her career and personal independence.
Her contributions to film, especially her roles in silent classics like “Pandora’s Box” and “Diary of a Lost Girl,” solidified her legacy as an enduring Hollywood icon.
While her personal life may have been tumultuous, her impact on the world of cinema remains timeless, cementing her status as a legendary actress of Old Hollywood.

Watch ‘The Naked Witch’ below…
This is an early Larry Buchanan films I found in the internet archives.
It’s perfect for this time of year and a cult classic. It was released somewhere between 1961-64.
The Naked Witch follows a college student researching the German settlements of Central Texas. He ends up unearthing a witch from her grave. The witch rises up and embarks on a campaign of seduction and murder against the descendants of her persecutors.
It’s a Weird and Wonderful Romp.
