TRANSCRIPT OF AUDIO
Today, I want to discuss the difference between a mission and a purpose.
It sounds like semantics, but I like getting nuanced, because words matter,
meanings matter, and we have become far too superficial with everything on the internet.
I want this to be a place where we think more deeply, delve more deeply, and it all starts with energy. Life Force Energy, as well as the energy around us of life itself.
So when we talk about a mission or a purpose, one is of the Divine, of the larger part of our lives, and the other is directly connected to our individual lives.
A PURPOSE
So a purpose comes from the Divine.
A purpose tends to be somewhat broader and has more of an overview.
So a purpose could be being a great parent and yes, it pertains to you as an individual, but many people are parents.
And what does it mean to be a good parent?
That's something that you need to define based on your overall understanding of life.
Parenting is more than just one experience.
It's a series of many experiences over many years.
So that would be considered an example of a purpose, a divine purpose, a life purpose.
A MISSION
Now, a mission is something that directly affects you, and you've taken on a certain viewpoint based on your experience.
For example, the organization M.A.D.D., which is an acronym for Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
This organization is made up of mothers who lost children to someone who got behind the wheel of a car drunk and killed their child.
So, they formed an organization to raise awareness and prevent this from happening in the future.
THE DIFFERENCE
This is a mission based on their personal experience that they can help bring intothe collective.
That's different than an overall purpose from the divine.
So I know many of us have been told you've got to find a purpose.
But really, if you're here, the purpose in large part has already been fulfilled.
It's your job to find the meaning in your existence, in this existence.
Much of that is internal.
Your life's purpose is about how you handle life internally.
A mission is how you handle it externally.
What are you focusing on?
What are you offering the world?
If you have a very strong intention and goal, that's a mission.
Your purpose is more about getting in touch with life itself.
That's internal.
Peace of mind, controlling your emotions, disciplining your mind and knowing how to focus and pay attention and not be distracted, honoring the moment.
These internal activities are directly connected to the purpose of life.
It's the only way that we can get closer to life and the divine part of our lives, and that's internal.
A mission is external.
It's what you bring to others based on experience.
So I hope that gives you something to consider.
Thank you for listening, and I wish you a very prosperous day.
