Learning to navigate these differences as a man or a woman become critical.

And let’s be totally honest here… the game is rigged. So let’s dig into this!

TRANSCRIPT OF THE UNEVEN PLAYING FIELD OF LIFE

OLD SCHOOL COACHING TIP FOR MEN

Today we’re going to talk about the playing field of life and how men built it.

They are made to play it, and so the game is rigged, ladies. This is another segment of the Body House Chronicles. This is Dyann Bridges, so let’s get started.

Early in my life, many years ago. I worked at a place. It was a retirement home, upscale retirement home, and they had a very nice cafeteria there. And it was run kind of like a restaurant. So I was a server in that restaurant.

And there was a bunch of twenty somethings, myself included, who worked there. And it just so happened, a good half dozen of the staff had gone to the same high school together. So they all knew each other.

And like many work environments like that in the restaurant industry, there was friendly competition and such. At first it was fine, it was a friendly back and forth, but then things always escalate in competition.

And there comes a point where a man must win. That’s usually the point where women want to keep things in check, make sure his ego doesn’t run away with him.

And that’s where it all goes wrong. I wouldn’t stop (trying to keep things “in check”).

So it had to keep escalating until he felt he’d won.

And I started to notice things happening. I was being gas lit, so to speak. Meaning, you know, I was unable to do my job sometimes properly because I wouldn’t be given certain types of information to do it properly.

I also started to notice that people who, men in particular, who I didn’t have that much contact with, were starting to treat me with much more of a cold shoulder.

It was almost like something unspoken between the guys that I was now a problem.

So, they were all going to stick together against me. This is not uncommon. This isn’t about me being a victim. This happens all the time, everywhere.

My point is, we don’t win, ladies. They do. They must. It’s their game. They stick together. We don’t.

It’s their playing field. They built it. They are made for it. Men are going to stick together.

That doesn’t mean we can’t play on their field. We just have to play it differently.

So as a woman, we need to know when to bow out. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

Just learn when not to say something.

I eventually had to learn that. Life got easier after that. You gotta decide not to care about their ego.

That’s their job. A man’s ego is defining for him.

Women have ego too, but it’s not nearly as strong as it is in men. And it’s strong collectively as well.

So, that’s one way of staying on the playing field when you’re playing with men.

Is knowing when to just keep it to yourself. Let them think they’ve won. And then go along with it and do what you need to do.

I mean, don’t allow anyone to cross your boundaries. or be disrespectful to you. But let a man think he’s won and move on. Life’s not worth the tension. And if the game is rigged, learn how to play it better.
